My Wishlist
As someone early in my teaching career there are many things I still have to learn about myself and how I can become the best possible educator. Below are some of my goals for the future to ensure that I have continued growth and knowledge within the educational community:
CPI training (Non-violent Crisis Intervention Training) - During my CFE (Community Field Experience), I was introduced to the benefits of CPI training. This training provides teachers with strategies to safely manage children who are showing anxious, hostile or violent behaviours. It teaches educators how to prevent and manage disruptive and or difficult behaviours in a safe and respectful manner. I hope to participate in one of these training sessions.
EduTalks - In October, I attended two EduTalks seminars on working with children with ASD. EduTalks offers a variety of other professional development seminar opportunities that I would be interested in attending in the future.
Books and Blogs - I think that reading about education is an important aspect of staying up-to-date. I have complied a short list of books and blogs I would like to read in the future.
Collaboration with other educations - While educating myself through books and blogs can be helpful, I think it is also important to learn through conversations with other educators. In collaborating and discussing education with others I hope that I will be able to get different perspectives and ideas regarding teaching and education that will improve my own practice.
